Back in spring and summer I reviewed some Vegan Cuts Beauty Boxes, a subscription box that sends you cruelty-free beauty products each month. I really enjoyed that box, but after six months I was ready for a change. Honestly, the boxes were getting a little repetitive. A girl can only use SO many facial scrubs, cleansers, and moisturizers. I’ve got quite the supply at this point. However, I loved the idea of continuing to support cruelty-free brands for my beauty needs, so instead of cancelling my subscription completely, I simply switched over the Vegan Cuts Makeup Box.
The Vegan Cuts Makeup Box is actually a quarterly subscription box. It delivers a box of cruelty free makeup goodies right around the turn of each season. That’s a feature I really love…it’s nice to know I have a seasonal themed box of makeup coming my way! Each box is customized to a beauty profile that you fill out, which is spectacular. That way I don’t have to worry about getting something that doesn’t suit my skin tone or makeup style. Another bonus? The Vegan Cuts Makeup Box only sends out FULL SIZE PRODUCTS. That seriously ups the value. This box is $39.95 per quarter (with FREE shipping!) which is actually way cheaper for a full year compared to the beauty box ($18.50 per month).
When I made my beauty profile, I selected a more natural makeup look. I don’t wear makeup that often, and when I do, I usually keep it in more of a natural/dark range. I definitely think the products I received reflected that, and I was quite pleased! I’m definitely not a beauty blogger (sorry if my pictures aren’t that great) but I really do enjoy makeup. I’ve got a lot to learn, but I love having the Vegan Cuts Makeup Box to add great cruelty-free products to my repertoire.
Onto the review – here’s what was in the Fall Vegan Cuts Makeup Box! I purchased this box with my own money but as an ambassador for Vegan Cuts the links in this post are affiliate links. Purchasing via these links earns me a small commission. All opinions on about the products are 100% my own.
I pulled out the biggest item in the box first which was a bottle of Bellapierre Cosmetics HD Makeup Primer. I’ve never used a primer before. I tried it out, and let me tell you, I now have a love/hate relationship with it. I absolutely ADORE this product. And I do not throw around beauty product praise lightly. But this stuff makes my skin look and feel amazing. It smooths and moisturizes, and preps my face so perfectly for makeup. I completely love it.
The hate comes from the price tag. This stuff is $75 PER OUNCE (aka per bottle; this bottle contains 1 oz). And while I’m sure that’s a reasonable price in the beauty world, it is not a reasonable price for this gal. Ugh. I can’t imagine myself actually paying that for more even though I completely love this stuff. I’ll have to cross that bridge when it comes.
Next I pulled out this Au Naturale Organic Creme Eye Shadow. It’s quite pale, and actually matches my skin tone almost exactly as you can see in the picture below.
I really like this creme shadow – it adds a bit of a shimmer, but nothing too extreme which makes it perfect for an every day look.
I’m a bit torn on the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Liquid Lip. It is incredibly vibrant and the color is beautiful; a rich plum red. However, I’m not a huge fan of the shiny, glossy lip look (I’m a matte girl) and this is REALLY shiny.
Plus, I can’t decide if I actually like this color on me (see below for it on my lips haha.) It’s definitely brighter than anything I’ve ever worn and I can’t tell if it doesn’t suit me or if I’m just not used to it! I will use this because I have it, but I can’t see myself purchasing this particular product again. This color in a matte form though, I’d definitely give a try.
The last thing I pulled out was this Ofra Cosmetics Blush Stripes palette. This is the other product I completely love from this box!! It provides a beautiful highlight and blush on my cheeks. This product is kind of a double win for me as I don’t like the gold/bronze stripe on the bottom for my cheeks, but I love it for my eyes! I love using it in the corners of my eyes and a thin stripe underneath to add a zing to my eye look.
The other thing I love about this blush palette is while it’s shimmery, it doesn’t sparkle, if that makes sense. It provides a great glow for your cheeks, but doesn’t look like you dipped your cheeks in a box of glitter. I really appreciate that. See the images above for how the swatches look under regular indoor lighting and direct sunlight. Such a lovely shimmer!
I put together a full look using the products in the Fall Vegan Cuts Makeup Box, and I really like it! Like I said above, I’m not too sure how well that lip is working for me, but I am kind of enjoying how vibrant it is.
Overall, I was quite impressed with my first Vegan Cuts Makeup Box. Not only do I like each product, the value is crazy worth it. This box was $39.95 and the product value inside was $154!! That’s nuts! I can’t wait to see what the Winter box brings!
