April Goals

I’m keeping my April goals short and sweet. Pretty much all efforts this year have been toward getting my art shop up and running. Since I met my goal of having it up and running on the first, I’m giving myself a break on goal setting this month!

  1. Keep running. I’ve got 2 miles left to run for the Baker Street Bound race for Geek’d Out Runners, and I’m so excited! This was a 22.1 mile race. Last year, I ran a total of 47 miles for the whole year so I’m off to a good start for 2016!
  2. Read more. I am so up and down with my reading. I only read two books + one graphic novel in March. Fiona just shared this awesome Tips To Read More vid on her YouTube channel, and I couldn’t agree more about her first point: make time for it! I need to focus on setting aside some time each day for reading.
  3. Keep up with personal art projects. I’m currently working on a commission, which takes priority, but I want to make sure I keep steadily making other projects and add more to my shop. I’ve got some ideas kicking around; now I just need to get them on paper!

And that’s it for April goals! I’m looking forward to this laid back month, with nothing that requires too much effort to accomplish.

What’s on your agenda for April?

  • Can you believe I was so busy that I forgot to set my goals for the month? I just realized it reading your post, haha. I want to read more, for sure, so thanks for the video recommendation 🙂

    • It’s never too late to make new goals 🙂

    • Kay

No problem! And there’s still plenty of time for goals. But sometimes a month without them is great too! I love Fiona’s channel, and I hope you enjoy the video!

  • Yay for your art shop!! You definitely deserve to take it easy on the goals this month:) You’re at twenty miles already this year?! That’s awesome!

    • It’s so good!

    • Kay

Thanks!! I love the virtual runs where you log the miles over time. It makes huge races so manageable. I average 3 miles each run, so it adds up quickly!

  • Those are great goals! It’s totally okay to take it easy every now and then, especially when you’ve worked on a huge projects such as your art shop!

    • Kay

I agree, and thank you! Taking a break always feels good. 😀

  • I love your april goals! Short and simple. Huge well done on the running! Keep at it.

Thanks Jas! It feels great to be running again. It’s still a struggle to get up early and get it done, but the feeling after I finish is so worth it. 🙂

  • Great goals! Definitely make time for reading! I always like to read before bed. So calming. So probably TMI, but I get upset stomachs a lot, so I tend to read a lot in the bathroom, so maybe leave one in the bathroom? Just an idea. 🙂

I totally read in the bathroom too! 😀 On day’s when we are home all day, my daughter has an hour of quiet time in the afternoon which is where she just chills in her room with a quiet activity. (Basically, it replaced nap time when she outgrew being tired enough for them). I’m going to start dedicating 30min of that time to me sitting down and reading! Hopefully I’ll be able to make steady progress that way.

I’m just going to live vicariously through you this month okay? Haha I miss running, miss reading, and really wish I had more time to work on my own writing projects. I graduate uni at the end of this month which is SO exciting but also so stressful lol. So ready to be finished and get back to what I love for a bit!

Oh my gosh that’s so close! I can totally imagine the excitement stress/combo. Way to go though – you can totally do it!

  • Good luck!

    • Kay

      Thanks Kristin!

  • Run more, go to the gym more, do more chill days and focus on school.

    • Kay

Excellent goals! You can do it!

      • So fan running is going really well. Jamming to KPop music hahah!

        • Kay

Nice! That’s great! We had a random bout of winter weather this week (snow and ice, YUCK) so running didn’t happen but I’ve been keeping up with yoga. Hopefully I can get a run in Sunday!

  • Emma

Good luck with your goals 😀

    • Kay

      Thanks Emma!

I’m definitely going to have to check out Fiona’s video. I am SO BAD at reading things that aren’t on a screen and I hate it. Rick and I are in the process of changing up our bedtime routine and I’m hoping that’ll motivate me.

    • Kay

Best of luck! I love, love reading, but I certainly go through times where I just don’t set aside time for it. And then a week of that turns into months and so on.

I’ve been slowly building up my exercise stamina so that I can start running again 🙂

    • Kay

Good for you, that’s great! It’s definitely good to start slowly. When I started again in early March I did a LOT of walking in between running/while running. Really helped my body get prepped!

  • Wonderful goals! I have sketching on my goal list. I hope you can complete them all, and #1 is AMAZING.

    • Kay

Thank you so much! Yay for sketching – you can do it!!
