March Goals

March is here! This month always gets me excited for spring time. We’ve had an extremely mild winter this year, so I’m already anticipating the season change, warmer weather, and the sun shining longer in the sky each day. My March goals will have a few repeats from last month (in the hopes of completing them this time around) and many new ones too – it’s going to be a busy month!

#1. Start running again. I signed up for my first virtual race via Geek’d Out Runners (Sherlock Holmes themed! Oh yeah!) and need to get back into the swing of things. I’ve been exercising quite regularly at home, but it’s time to start running again. I’m nervous (not a fan of running in public) but I can do it!

#2. Order business cards! I already know where I’m going to order them from, but I have to finalize the design. UGH. I have zero confidence in my design skills, so I am constantly second guessing myself and am overall indecisive. Not helpful. I need to get a final design together, and get them printed!

#3. Drink. More. Water. As I mentioned in my February wrap-up, I only averaged 10 ounces of water a day last month. I really want to hit 16 ounces each day this month.

#4. Complete 4 finalized pieces of art. Essentially, this boils down to one piece a week. And that does not count my sketches, or Sketch Portraits. I’m talking fully finished pieces. I think this a challenging goal, but it will really help me focus on keeping pace with art and finishing my work before starting more.

#5. Make a budget. One of my huge goals of 2016 is saving money. We’ve been doing quite well so far, but we still don’t have an actual budget plan. Currently, our ‘budget’ consists of spending money on only essential things (like groceries, gas, laundry, etc) and occasionally spending extra on fun stuff. There isn’t much rhyme or reason to it. I know we could be putting more money away if I really make a plan for our finances.

An ambitious month! I’ve gotta say, I really enjoy having goals I’m EXCITED to complete. They are all things I’m genuinely happy to be putting effort into, and I definitely think that is something to think about when making goals. I feel like I used to view goals as a chore list; tasks I set for myself that ‘had’ to be done. Now, I like to fill my goals with things I truly want to be doing, starting small and building up!

What are your March goals?

  • B.

I honestly have no idea what my goals are for this month! Maybe that’s my goal? No goals? LOL

    • Kay

Ha I love it! Honestly, that’s the best sometimes! I guarantee I’m taking a month for no goals this year once my shop stuff is up and running.

  • Ah! You’re doing a virtual race, too! All of the people I’ve told are like, “Wth is a *virtual* race??” I’m glad someone else is in the virtual race game! I’m doing the Zombies, Run race next month. Good luck with your running training!

    • Kay

Thanks! And virtual races seem like the best thing ever. I’m rather shy about running front of people, so this is the perfect solution haha. Check out Geek’d Out Runners on Facebook if you haven’t – they share all kinds of geek themed races. Enjoy your running and races too!

      • I need to get into this! Are those the ones with the really fun medals?

        • Kay

Yes yes! The medals are seriously so great haha. 😀 I’ll add you to the group!

  • You’ll have to send me a business card for my collection! <3 If you need someone to bounce anything off of, I am here!

    • Kay

      Awesome, will do! Thanks Liana!

  • Danette Perez

Ah nice! Sounds like a good list considering all angles of things to keep in check. Business cards is on my list too! Gotta get on that… Also on the March/ life list for me is to keep on the reading train (“Quiet” is next, while I’m currently reading/ loving “Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant”.) and to play the guitar daily (despite Amanda Palmer’s suggestion :P) to improve speed on the chord changes and learn a a few more songs.

    • Kay

Nice! I’m intrigued by ‘Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant’ just on the title! And I’m so excited for you to read Quiet. I found it so fascinating!

  • Nice list!! You just reminded me that I also need to order my business cards! LOL I had forgotten all about it 😮

    • Kay

Ha, yay! I figured it’s probably time I get some, with the shop opening next month and all haha. 😛

  • Emma

Ooo.. very ambitious! I’m struggling to think up goals for this month – maybe my mind is telling me to be a lazy boob and do nothing! Good luck 🙂

    • Kay

Thanks! And yay for being a lazy boob. 😀 I will most certainly be having a month or two like that this year.

  • You can do it!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

    • Kay

      Thanks Mandy!

  • Danielle Knapp

Running is on my list of things to get back into as well 🙂

    • Kay

You can do it! I was supposed to start again today, and I woke up to it icing/sleeting outside…apparently I’m starting tomorrow!

  • It is really hard to get on top of drinking water. I try so hard. I even downloaded a water reminder app, that I promptly ignore every time the timer goes off. So much for that! But my husband nags me a lot to drink water.

Have you tried the Zombie, Run! app? It is a lot of fun! It’s episodic running. I feel like I’m listening to a episode of The Walking Dead. It is so much fun! I’m going to write a post about it in the near future! I love it! I have to check out this group you are talking about that sounds so fun!! I wish to get back into running all the time as well, I really want to lose some weight.

    • Kay

I have heard of it, but I haven’t downloaded it yet! Sounds like so much fun. My friend Danny has it and he raves about it. I definitely want to check it out! It’s hard to get back into it, but I know how much better I feel when I do it. Best of luck to you if you start up again! We can do it!

      • We can! My legs are sore! Hahah I’m like I still need to go running today. But my legs…….

  • Like I said in your other post, just keep on drinking that water!
Can’t wait to see your business cards. I think it’s great you want to start printing your artwork and selling it. If I was as talented as you I would do the same! Good luck with your goals!

    • Kay

Thanks so much Jessica! I’m excited to make business cards…feels so official! 🙂

  • I’m starting Couch to 5K and i’m nervous :/ Good luck!

    • Kay

Thanks! I just had my first run of the year this week and it went so much better than I was expecting! You can totally do it! I know it’s a huge DUH, but it really does get easier if you’re consistent with it. And it is SO rewarding to feel it get easier!
