2015 By The Numbers

Last year, I shared my first By The Numbers post and I really like it as a way of quantifying what I’ve done in a year. I find it quite mentally satisfying to be able to just look at hard numbers for things! My top three categories each year are: Photos Taken, Pieces of Art Completed, and Books Read. All the other categories vary from year to year. Here’s what my 2015 By The Numbers looks like!

2015 By The Numbers

Have you ever made a list like this? If not, try it out and share! I’d love to see how your 2015 looks By The Numbers.

  • That’s awesome! I never counted all the numbers of my year.

    • Kay

I find it so fun! Obviously it doesn’t cover EVERYTHING I do in a year, but I really like coming up with different categories, and getting to relive the memories that way!

  • This is so fun! I’m too unorganized to be making lists like these, but I always enjoy seeing other’s. I think my favorite category here is “places traveled and adventures had” – it sounds so magical.

    • Kay

Thanks! I had a hard time coming up with a small(ish) name for it…basically just all the fun stuff we do with our kiddo! Sometimes that’s going to a new museum, sometimes it’s hiking a new trail in the woods or mountains, or just a trip to the ocean. Either way, an adventure!

  • Whoa, this is awesome, Kayly! I keep a list of the books I’ve read (on goodreads), but that’s about it.

    • Kay

Thanks Katie! I only started doing it a few years ago, and first shared it on the blog last year, but it’s become one of my favorite end of year reflections. 🙂

  • This is a cool idea!! I have no idea how many pictures I took! A ton! I share wayyyyy too many pictures on Instagram haha! I traveled to 2 new cities this year, I bought 7 Funko Pops, and I read 82 books!

Awesome, Sara! Photos is the one thing I am SUPER organized about. I take so many photos, and I keep them in folder organized by date took, and separated into months. So at the end of the year, I can just tally the number of images in each folder for my total. Otherwise I’d have no idea either!

  • What a fantastic concept! I don’t even know what I would count for mine. Hearthstone games won? haha

    Have an amazing 2016 ♥

    • Kay

Thanks Neri! And I think my favorite part is coming up with categories…they can be anything! Hearthstone games won is great! Number of cups of tea (or coffee) drank is going to be an addition this year….I think I’m going to be a little blown away by that number. And absolute 100% accuracy isn’t always the point (like for pictures taken, I’m probably off by a few as I took some pics for friends and things like that). If you try it out, let me know! Have a great 2016 yourself, I’m excited to see more from Mama Needs Mana. <3

Holy cow, 47 books, that is impressive!! I really like this idea! PS New blog looks AWESOME!

    • Kay

Thanks so much! If you make up a By The Numbers list, definitely share – I’d love to check it out! I need to remember to mark down garden stats this year to include for 2016’s list. How awesome will it feel to know the number of veggies I grew?! 😀

  • Jas

This is such a great idea!! How do you keep track? jaspooleblog.com

    • Kay

Thank you! Usually I keep track throughout the year, just jotting down tallies in a notebook, but for some I do a tally at the end of the year. Art is pretty easy to figure out as it’s all stored in my portfolio, and I’m super organized about photos on my comp so I just tally up the numbers of each folder from this year! Most of the categories this year were actually pretty easy to figure out, but things like homeschool and miles ran I’d been keeping track since starting.

  • Oh this is a cool idea! 😀

    • Kay

Thanks, let me know if you make one, I’d love to check it out!
