Niagara Falls: New York Trip Part 3

Today is the final post about our road trip to New York! (You can read Part 1 here, and Part 2 here.) Our third day in New York was all about visiting Niagara Falls. None of us had ever been, and it was definitely one of those bucket list sights to visit that we knew would be equally enjoyable for all three of us!

It was pretty magical. While obviously jam-packed with tourists (like us), the falls themselves were as majestic as expected. The sound, the mist, the constant rainbows! And there weren’t so many people that you had to vie for spots to see them; there were plenty of areas with great views.

Poncho Selfie!

We opted to go on The Maid of The Mist boat tour, and get right up to the falls. The little miss loved that! She loved the waterfall spray all over her face, and the blue ponchos. But her most favorite part was watching the seagull and other sea birds bobbing all around on the waves near the base of the falls. She thought it was hilarious! Also, you saw them dive under to grab fish often which was pretty cool to watch.

Also while on The Maid of The Mist, we discovered the above extremely creep-ass place which I’ve decided is Pennywise’s vacation home at Niagara Falls. NOPE NOPE NOPE RUN AWAY. For those who haven’t read or watched IT by Stephen King, you will not get that reference. #sorrynotsorry

I didn’t realize that Niagara Falls has a huge park area around it, and that was a great bonus. The miss was able to have plenty of time to run around, climb on rocks, watch the critters, and get a ton of energy out before the big drive back home. We definitely want to go back when she is a little older, and do the adventure tours they offer there, which includes a cave behind one of the falls, and zip-lining in front of them!

What’s one place on your bucket list you’d like a plan a trip to see?

Beautiful photos. We keep meaning to give the Falls a visit, but haven’t gotten the chance yet. Oh well, maybe next year.

Thanks Mariko! We would have liked to check out the Canadian side for the better views, but sadly we don’t yet have passports. It’s definitely worth a visit to, and I highly recommend doing the boat tour up to the falls.

  • Wow! That is amazing! I would like to visit Niagara some day! I just marked a bucket list item off which was visiting Volcano National Park.

    • Kay

It’s definitely worth a trip to, and the boat tour is excellent! It’s pretty amazing to see the falls so closely and hear that loud roar of the water. And Volcano National Park is definitely something on my bucket list.

      • I think you’d love it! The hike in the lava tubes was so amazing!! Kileaua is a collapsed funnel so the volcano is actually very flat. I am sure we’d have a blast at Niagara falls!

  • Baw I was just at Niagara Falls a few weekends ago! I was on the Canadian side, though. (I have photos on my blog). I’m glad you had fun! Such a beautiful place <3

    • Kay

Too funny! We may have been there at the same time – this trip was a few weekends back now! I’m off to follow your blog – and so awesome that you have an art blog too!! 😀

      • I was there the Sunday of Labour Day long weekend! Thanks for the follow 😀 I really should post more to my art blog, I haven’t uploaded anything for a while 🙁

        • Kay

That’s when we were there too! Ha, small world right?! 😀

  • I’m so happy you had a good time!! The Maid of the Mist is so much fun. Next time you go back, make sure to go on the Canadian side. They have streets upon streets of shops and museums and mini golf and a mall. It’s a lot more fun over there!

I so want to! Sadly, we didn’t all have passports this year. ;_; But, we’ll be getting some as I believe we are taking a trip to Costa Rica next year which should be crazy!

  • I’ve been to the Canadian side years ago! The number one place on my bucket list is Machu Picchu.

    • Kay

Awesome! The views from there must be so spectacular. My brother went to Machu Picchu earlier this year and the photos were SO INCREDIBLE. I hope you can get there someday!

  • Mariah Kaercher

This is easily on my bucket list of places to travel to.

    • Kay

I’m glad I could check it off! Scotland still remains my #1 place to visit.

  • Desiree

I went a few years back but been wanting to go back. So pretty and majestic. Glad you guys had a good time.

    • Kay

Thanks! I def want to check out the Canadian side when we have passports.
