What a month March was. I feel like this month had such a huge build-up for me, mentally, as it was the last month I had before I am officially open for business with my art. Let’s kick off the March wrap-up with goals!
This month, I posted my goals and literally never looked at the post again. Oh dear. As I’m writing this, I haven’t looked at it yet and have no actual idea WHAT my goals were, other than water drinking. So let’s see how I did!
#1. Start running again. Success! I have about 3 miles left to log of the 22.1 mile Sherlock race. I really enjoy running again. I’m not really on a regular schedule with it yet, but I’m happy with just going again period.
#2. Order business cards. Success! And I love them. In fact, I’ve got a whole post about them for next week. Stay tuned!
#3. Drink. More. Water. SO. CLOSE. In February, I only averaged 10 ounces of water a day, and I wanted to kick that up to 16 ounces, minimum, for March. This month, I averaged 15.65 ounces a day. Improvement, and so close to my (already low) goal! I need to work on consistency; I have days where I’ll drink 24 ounces or more in a day, and then go a few days only drinking 8 or 10. I need a balance!
#4. Complete 4 finalized pieces of art. Not quite. I completed 3 full pieces, stuck with Sketch Portraits, and have a lot of concept drawings started. Still productive, but not quite at the one a week I want to get to.
#5. Make a budget. Sort of completed? I have a post coming up about budgeting in April, but for now I’ll say that yes, I did sit down and write a budget for the month of March. But we didn’t exactly stick to it. More details in the upcoming post.
Overall, 2 of 5 goals fully completed. Now to start mulling over ideas for April’s goals (and hopefully not forget them entirely this time!)
Moving on to monthly favorites! Here’s what I was loving in March:
- These art Instagram accounts:
- Being inspired to start new projects outside of my comfort zone.
- Playing Firewatch for Indie Game Gang. I was shit about being active in the forums, but I loved this game.
- Celebrating my brother’s birthday.
- Setting aside free time to spend with my hubs instead of constantly working on projects.
- These YouTubers:
- Felicity Smoak. We’ve been catching up on Arrow, and while I may not ship Ollie + Felicity, I love her so, so much as a character. Plus, serious wardrobe goals.
- Splurging on two cute new dresses to wear as soon as the weather warms up.
March felt like it flew by, and I think it’s because I had so much to prepare for my art shop opening up. I can’t believe it opens TOMORROW! I’m so happy it’s finally ready, and also filled with anxiety though I have no idea why. It’s not like I have a problem sharing my work; I do it all the time here! In fact, you guys have already seen the things I’m offering prints of! I think the fact that it’s the first time I’ve really put myself out there and made a go of my art just causes me some anxiety about it. But there’s a whole bunch of excitement to go with it! Stay tuned tomorrow for an announcement post on the shop!
What did March bring to the table for you?
