The other day I had the realization that I haven’t done a Happy Mail Update since I first launched the project. Oops! Time to rectify that.
It’s been four months since I kicked off my Happy Mail project and it’s going great! I’ve sent out three pieces of art to three different people in my address book and it’s felt great! Creating a piece of art as a surprise for someone never ceases to bring my joy and happiness.
March’s piece went to writer Sonya Cheney. Although we’ve never met in real life, I see in many ways a kindred spirit in Sonya, and was so happy to create a piece just for her. Here’s what I made!
April’s piece went out to the blogger behind Nerd in the Brain. I’ve read her blog for years, and she also gave me some great home schooling advice back when I homeschooled my kiddo. It was a pleasure to create a surprise piece all about her dog Frank and his fantastic nickname. Seriously, he needs a comic.
May’s piece went out to my online friend Megan, who writes over at Fiction Incarnate. She was recently married and I just had to surprise her with a little portrait.
Summer is proving to be a bit tricky for this project given so much less time to work on art. I’ll be taking a summer hiatus from Happy Mail and getting back to it in September. Remember, if you want the chance to get a surprise piece of art in the mail, just add your mailing address to my Postable!
