Last week was such a happy mail week. I got two products in the mail that I had backed on Kickstarter! The first to arrive were my set of Chameleon Color Tone Pens. I am so excited to try them out! This was the most money I have ever put into a Kickstarter campaign, but so far I’m pretty positive it will be worth it. So what are Chameleon Pens? Check out the video below for a quick explanation.
So cool, right?! Now, there is definitely a learning curve with these. I mean, they are markers that come with an instruction pamphlet. Yikes. But I’m excited to learn how to use them! They are alcohol based ink markers, so they will blend with my Copics beautifully, and I’m so pleased to have these babies as a part of my ever growing art supply collection!
I purchased the new twenty color spectrum, along with skin tones and grey tones so I’ve got quite a lot to work with. I’m really curious to see how well they blend compared to Copic markers along with the differences in nibs and such. Since they are new, I wanted to come up with a little side project to test them out on. One that was full of color. Here’s a sneak peek I shared on Instgram:
Sailor Scouts are ready for a redraw and then onto color! But first, time to take a side project break and get some commission work done. . . #sailorscouts #sailormoon #sailormars #sailormercury #sailorjupiter #sailorvenus #sketch #pencilsketch #doodle #pencildrawing #fanart #magicalgirl #art #artstagram #instaartist #artofinstagram
It has been SO LONG since I’ve drawn any Sailor Moon fanart. And honestly, I wanted to try giving some fully body work a go. I’m really working on drawing without direct references lately, so this is just another step in that direction. (Sidebar: I hate drawing feet.) The Scouts are already color schemed, so they will be a perfect test run for my new Chameleon Pens! I’ll share more about this project on a WIP Wednesday once it’s complete.
Have you gotten anything new and fun lately?
