Summer Hiking Trips

One of my absolute favorite parts about living in New Hampshire, specifically at the base of the White Mountains, is hiking. Summer hiking trips have been a part of my life since childhood. But for some reason, last year we hardly hiked at all. Granted, last summer was a bit rocky in terms of some personal life turbulence. No matter the reason, this year I definitely did not want to let hiking season pass us by. Thanks to my trusty bullet journal, I’ve planned out some summer hiking trips for us to conquer! We’ve already checked the first hike off our list! The Lonesome Lake loop up in Franconia Notch...

Get Qurious Maker Box Review

A couple weeks before our trip to Costa Rica, I received a Get Qurious Maker Box in the mail to review with my kiddo. What’s a Get Qurious Maker Box? It’s an activity box that encourages imaginative play using puzzles, stories, masks and more that work together with an app (iPhone only!) to bring it to life. I knew my little miss would be on board! Normally, the box is $19.99. This box was sent to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are my own. Once arriving home from vacation, my daughter dove right in and started playing! The Get Qurious Maker Box has...

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Today is superhero dress up day at school for my six year old daughter. When she brought home the flier about it a few weeks ago, the words immediately out of her mouth were, “I have to go as Moon Girl!” To which my nerdy parenting heart swelled and I had a mission to make it happen. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a fantastic comic, especially for the younger age group. It stars Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl), a nine year old science genius who is bored to tears at school and terrified of the inhuman genes that lurk within her. Through some crazy happenings, she teams up with...

Costa Rica: Family Vacation 2017

What. A. Trip. Our visit to Costa Rica was wonderful. The travel there went as smoothly as possible, which was excellent since that was the source of quite a bit of anxiety for me. After arriving at the San Jose airport last Saturday afternoon we loaded our bags into a van and were driven to the house we’d rented for the week. One of my favorite things about this trip was having drivers/transport. All of our transport was booked with a company called Varso Travel. In addition to getting us to the house from the airport, they picked us up from the house each day and drove us to wherever...

Family Costume Reveal!

Halloween this year was such a success! As I mentioned in quite a few posts, this was the first year we did a family costume. Our daughter picked the theme, and she went with Pokemon! My partner was Ash, I was Serena, and she was Pikachu! Figured I’d post a reference pic in case you weren’t familiar with Pokemon XY. And of course, we modified our costumes for Halloween in New Hampshire which is COLD. It was 38 degrees for trick or treating. BRRRRRR. (Oh, and Serena isn’t wearing her usual chunky white sunglasses on her hat in this pic, but she normally has them!) While these costumes were fun...

Weekend Adventure: The Deerfield Fair

This past weekend we drove down to one of New Hampshire’s biggest fairs – The Deerfield Fair! We had a great time, in spite of the weather which was low fifties and just on the cusp of rain the whole day. Luckily, the rain decided to hold off for us until we were driving home! I didn’t bring my DSLR with me in case of downpours however, so all the pics you see are from my phone. Better than nothing! We began our day in the petting zoo area which was pretty great since we had it mostly to ourselves. The kiddo had an absolute blast feeding goats and llamas,...

Child Style #2: September Looks

It’s time for the latest installment of Child Style, where I share illustrations of OOTDs my daughter picks out and wears. I absolutely love illustrating this series, both as great sketching practice and also for memory preserving! I know I’ll look back in a few years and treasure these. Keep reading to see the September looks, and get the latest in five year old style. Shirt: Children’s Place | Skirt: Kohls | Sneakers: Kohls | Backpack + Lunchbox: Amazon The First (Ever) Day of School Talk about a big day! My daughter played it surprisingly tame in all pink. She picked long sleeves despite it being in the mid-eighties still....

Niagara Falls: New York Trip Part 3

Today is the final post about our road trip to New York! (You can read Part 1 here, and Part 2 here.) Our third day in New York was all about visiting Niagara Falls. None of us had ever been, and it was definitely one of those bucket list sights to visit that we knew would be equally enjoyable for all three of us! It was pretty magical. While obviously jam-packed with tourists (like us), the falls themselves were as majestic as expected. The sound, the mist, the constant rainbows! And there weren’t so many people that you had to vie for spots to see them; there were plenty of...
