• Inktober 2017 Wrap Up

      by Kay on November 2, 2017 , 9 Comments

Inktober 2017 is over and I could not have had more fun with the project this year! I loved sketching out tattooed people each day. Using just a ballpoint pen was incredibly rewarding. It was great to go back to something so simple that can have such range. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Copic markers, but it’s always nice to have a reminder that you can create without breaking the bank. I’ll definitely be making more pen drawings even with Inktober being over! I learned quite a bit from Inktober 2017 as well! One of the most surprising […]

    • Inktober 2017

      by Kay on October 13, 2017 , 12 Comments

So far, Inktober 2017 is going GREAT! This year I decided to go really simple with supplies and just use ballpoint pen. I’m drawing portraits of tattooed people (because I loved the idea of drawing INKed people for INKtober). I rarely draw men and wanted to get some practice in so I’m making sure at least half of my portraits are of dudes. I am absolutely loving drawing these portraits! Ballpoint pen is so much fun. It’s simple, but very versatile and allows you to get a lot of different line weights and tones with just one pen. Here are […]

    • Happy Mail Update

      by Kay on July 6, 2017 , 14 Comments

The other day I had the realization that I haven’t done a Happy Mail Update since I first launched the project. Oops! Time to rectify that. It’s been four months since I kicked off my Happy Mail project and it’s going great! I’ve sent out three pieces of art to three different people in my address book and it’s felt great! Creating a piece of art as a surprise for someone never ceases to bring my joy and happiness. March’s piece went to writer Sonya Cheney. Although we’ve never met in real life, I see in many ways a kindred […]
