Summer Vegan Cuts Makeup Box

Summer Vegan Cuts Makeup Box

When my summer Vegan Cuts Makeup Box showed up at my PO Box, I was mixed with both excitement and a little bit of sadness. Excitement because, DUH, box full of cruelty-free makeup goodies! Sadness because this will be my last box. I’ve now gotten a makeup box for each season (read about the Fall, Winter, and Spring boxes!) and honestly, I’ve got enough makeup. I am not a makeup-every-day kind of gal. Let’s be real – I work from home; it’s an accomplishment to not spend the day in sweatpants. Now that I have received a makeup box for each season, I have quite the collection! So this will...

August: Small Goals

august goals

With the last month of summer upon us it’s time for some August goals. Be sure to check out Writes Like A Girl’s blog, as I recently discovered she’s who started the small goals train! She’s got a link-up too! If I’m being honest, I wrote July’s goals in a post and literally never looked at them again. I never even wrote them in my bullet journal. I’ve got the post open in another tab right now as I write this just to remember what they are. So the July goal wrap-up will probably be pretty rough. :/ July Goals Wrap-Up 1. Reach out locally about art jobs. Sigh. Nope....

Oh, Hello August

hello august

I, for one, am thrilled to say hello August. This summer has gone by unbelievably fast. Perhaps it’s because it’s the first actual summer break for my daughter. Or because I’m juggling freelance life and motherhood (spoiler alert: motherhood has taken priority all summer.) Or because we’ve had an abundance of fun plans that have kept us busy. No matter what the reason, summer is coming to a close this month, and I am honestly thrilled about it. Don’t get me wrong; I have loved this summer. We’ve gone hiking, done multiple camping trips, done day trips to different places both local and far, and it’s been wonderful. But I...

Rainbow Falls – Hike #3

Rainbow Falls trail

This past Saturday we decided to head out to the Rainbow Falls trail in Plymouth, NH. Rainbow Falls in a super easy hike – perfect for a day where we wanted to be outside and enjoy some fresh air, but not have to work to hard at it! The trail is 1.2 miles in-and-out, and there is very little incline at all. You’re not hiking a mountain – just hiking through the woods to the waterfall! Rainbow Falls itself is a nice little waterfall. It’s small, but a lovely view. The base is perfect for splashing around in and rock hopping. The rocks next to the falls are actually perfect...

Happy Mail Update

The other day I had the realization that I haven’t done a Happy Mail Update since I first launched the project. Oops! Time to rectify that. It’s been four months since I kicked off my Happy Mail project and it’s going great! I’ve sent out three pieces of art to three different people in my address book and it’s felt great! Creating a piece of art as a surprise for someone never ceases to bring my joy and happiness. March’s piece went to writer Sonya Cheney. Although we’ve never met in real life, I see in many ways a kindred spirit in Sonya, and was so happy to create a...

July: Small Goals

New month, new goals. It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through the year already. I’m feeling a lot better about readjusting to my kiddo being home for the summer. We spent three days up at my BFF’s house last week and it was so therapeutic. After our kids were in bed I poured out all my anxieties and fears about freelancing to her and she proceeded to basically solved all my problems over the next hour of chatting! Obviously I’m exaggerating, but she did give me some amazing advice and came up with an awesome four year plan for my long term goals. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, there’s...

Mt. Rattlesnake Trail – Summer Hike #2

mt. rattlesnake trail hike

Our second hike of the year was up Mt Rattlesnake trail located in Rumney, NH. This particular Rattlesnake trail (there are a few with that name in the area) is a 3.1 mile loop with some pretty steep sections but so much to enjoy along the way. There’s a babbling stream at the start, beautiful forest scenery the whole way, rocks to climb (and rest) on, and then the payoff at the top. Enjoy a little photo dump! The views from the summit are gorgeous. It overlooks much of the town of Rumney, along with many other peaks in the distance. It also has a great view of the windmills...

Happy Pride! Sense8 Fanart

sense8 pride header

Pride month is almost over, and I didn’t want to let it go by without creating some art to celebrate. As you may know, Netflix made the decision to cancel the show Sense8. Without turning this post into a rant session, let’s just say that I personally feel this is a horrendous decision given how important the themes found within the show are. It represents so much about humanity and diversity, how different people can connect and share so much in common. It also has an extremely diverse cast, and represents so many aspects of the LGBTQ+ community. I’d been wanting to do some Sense8 fanart for awhile, and it...
