One week ago my kiddo officially began summer vacation. That morning, she and her fellow classmates put on an adorable presentation all about completing their first year of school. As a parent, it was such a wonderful, proud moment for me. Watching her flourish in school has been amazing, and it’s given me an opportunity to pursue art as my career. And now, as I’m readjusting to her being home all day for the next three months, I feel like that career has to be put on pause. Realistically, I know that isn’t true. I can still work on art during the day. But it IS different. I no longer...

I Am So Happy Wonder Woman Exists

wonder woman

Movie reviews aren’t something I usually do here on the blog. But I just saw Wonder Woman on Friday night and I can’t not talk about it. It made me feel so many things, so many MORE things than I was expecting. So let’s chat Wonder Woman, shall we? No plot spoilers, but I do mention a specific scene so be warned if you haven’t yet seen the movie! Let’s start with what I mentioned above – I can’t believe how many emotions this movie caused me to have, for so many different reasons. Walking into the theater, I had no particular emotional attachment or nostalgia towards Wonder Woman as...

Summer Hiking Trips

One of my absolute favorite parts about living in New Hampshire, specifically at the base of the White Mountains, is hiking. Summer hiking trips have been a part of my life since childhood. But for some reason, last year we hardly hiked at all. Granted, last summer was a bit rocky in terms of some personal life turbulence. No matter the reason, this year I definitely did not want to let hiking season pass us by. Thanks to my trusty bullet journal, I’ve planned out some summer hiking trips for us to conquer! We’ve already checked the first hike off our list! The Lonesome Lake loop up in Franconia Notch...

June: Small Goals

june small goals

New month, new goals. I didn’t end up blogging for pretty much the last half of May. No real reason, I just didn’t feel I had much to share that I hadn’t already been sharing on either Instagram or Twitter. When I realized it had been a week without blogging, I immediately had that twinge of guilt; that feeling of ‘I should be blogging!‘ But I whisked it away as an afterthought and that was so refreshing. This is my hobby, and sometimes other things take precedence! Like art, soaking up beautiful weather, going out for ice cream. Just BEING. Enjoying the little things. It’s my definite summer plan. May...

Get Qurious Maker Box Review

A couple weeks before our trip to Costa Rica, I received a Get Qurious Maker Box in the mail to review with my kiddo. What’s a Get Qurious Maker Box? It’s an activity box that encourages imaginative play using puzzles, stories, masks and more that work together with an app (iPhone only!) to bring it to life. I knew my little miss would be on board! Normally, the box is $19.99. This box was sent to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are my own. Once arriving home from vacation, my daughter dove right in and started playing! The Get Qurious Maker Box has...

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Today is superhero dress up day at school for my six year old daughter. When she brought home the flier about it a few weeks ago, the words immediately out of her mouth were, “I have to go as Moon Girl!” To which my nerdy parenting heart swelled and I had a mission to make it happen. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a fantastic comic, especially for the younger age group. It stars Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl), a nine year old science genius who is bored to tears at school and terrified of the inhuman genes that lurk within her. Through some crazy happenings, she teams up with...

Currently May 2017

Accidentally skipped April, but here’s what my Currently May looks like! Watching: Sense8. Season 2 just got added to Netflix and I am utterly addicted all over again. I have never in my life been more emotionally attached to TV characters before. Books, totally. But with TV and movies, I always have that back-of-the-mind thought that yes, these are actors. With Sense8 my brain is like NO. THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE AND I LOVE THEM. My brain is also only capable of speaking in shouty fan-girl capitals in regards to this show. If you haven’t watched it, do so, and fall in love. Reading: Eating Animals by Jonathon Safran Foer....

Costa Rica: Family Vacation 2017

What. A. Trip. Our visit to Costa Rica was wonderful. The travel there went as smoothly as possible, which was excellent since that was the source of quite a bit of anxiety for me. After arriving at the San Jose airport last Saturday afternoon we loaded our bags into a van and were driven to the house we’d rented for the week. One of my favorite things about this trip was having drivers/transport. All of our transport was booked with a company called Varso Travel. In addition to getting us to the house from the airport, they picked us up from the house each day and drove us to wherever...
